When is Wedding Season?

There comes a time in your mid twenties to early thirties where everyone around you seems to be getting married. It almost feels like a domino effect. The romantic proposals start taking over your instagram and before you know it, all those wedding invitations are filling up your mailbox. In a panic, you begin to organize yourself. You grab your iCal (or planner, if youre old fashioned like me) and begin marking away dates. You blink! and suddenly, every weekend from May to October is filled. You take a step to realize you've officially entered: Wedding Season.  So why are these months so popular? Well, let us explain.. The beginning months of summer (~May/June) and fall (September/October) tend to have the best weather. Think prime wedding backdrops: Spring flowers are in bloom or Fall foliage is beginning to turn. Also, what bride wouldnt like to avoid hot & humid or frigid & rainy on their special day?! Those temperatures do NOT work with the hair and makeup. Su...

Happily Ever Hashtag: Tips, Tricks & Ideas!

A few months back, we at DE shared our thoughts on #Wedding #Hashtags. With an overwhelming response for more tips and tricks, we're coming back for round two!  Tip #1: Aim for wit but stay true to yourselves:  Everyone loves a clever wedding #hashtag that is easy to remember. You definitely dont want another couple's happy day to crowd up your feed or lose your pictures in the ...

Not Your Mother’s Place Cards

These trendy place cards are definitely not your mother’s. Forget boring, folded-over pieces of paper. Brides and planners are proving that there are much more unique and fun ways to do place cards. Whether you’re assigning guests to specific tables or not, your guests will surely be impressed with unique designs like these as they enter your dining space. As seen in the pictures above, specialty place cards can be made for weddings of any theme or season. Vintage and shabby chic weddings pair well with wooden coasters as place cards. Getting married outdoors? Try tying nametags around small succulents. Getting married in the fall? Consider using small pumpkins or squash.  All of these ideas can be altered for your special day too. For example, use peaches instead of pumpkins for a spring wedding. Our Sarasota brides especially love these beach and nautical themed place card ideas.  Names can easily be written on shells, starfish, or sand dollars. Feeling really c...

Trend Alerts: Cutout Cake Toppers

At the sound of the words “cake topper,” most people picture the same, standard figurine.  It’s always that perfect bride and groom smiling from the top of a cake. However, those traditional toppers have been M.I.A this wedding season. Instead, cutout cake toppers have sent those plastic people packing. You can thank one major source for this trend: Etsy. A bride’s go-to planning sources should be their planner, their made-of-honor, and Etsy. In that order. If you’re not familiar, Etsy.com is an online market for vendors of handcrafted goods. We’re not really sure what brides did before Etsy was created. It’s the one-stop shop for veils, ring holders, banners, cards, and these cutout cake toppers. Unlike that traditional, cake topper couple, these toppers are easy to personalize. Multiple Etsy vendors create these cutout designs, so there are tons of options. You can get a silly saying like the popular “We did what?” Or, you can pick a simple phrase like “love” or “bes...
