A popular trend that couples are including on their big day is mixing a specialty cocktail unique to them for their guests to enjoy during the cocktail hour and reception. Here are the four steps to creating a specialty cocktail that is perfect for you!
- Creative Name: Whether you are looking to have a cocktail for both the bride and groom or create one together, this is your chance to get silly and punny. Some examples we love are “Shot of Love”, “Blushing Bride” for a pink drink, “Something Borrowed, Something Blue”, “Tied the Knotini”, and especially any that are a play on your new last name!
- Matching Colors: You’ve worked extremely hard on designing the perfect color scheme and theme to your wedding, so it’s just as important to include your fun drinks! There are a few websites (here and here) that allow you to search cocktail recipes based on color, so give it a go and taste test to find the ones you love that also match your other décor.
- Presentation: Have fun with how you want your cocktail to look. You can of course go the traditional route with it, but if your wedding is more whimsical, why not go with a mason jar? Striped paper straws are another cute addition to consider, which you can add personality to even more with little flags attached, like in the picture above.
- Signs: Make sure your guests know all about your specialty cocktails with signs to promote and describe them, like pictured above. Your guests will be more likely to order the drinks if you have signs for them and you can have fun with your sign, drawing pictures and tying your wedding theme into it. A cute little chalkboard with a frame and colored chalk would work well with an outdoor, relaxed southern wedding.
Make sure you’re a fan of the drink and your guests will be, too!
“Eat, drink, and be married!”
